I’m having trouble ordering online – what do I do?

If the issue persists, please email info@theencoretheatre.org or call our box office at 734.268.6200.

What time should I arrive at the theatre? What if I’m late?

The theatre building opens two hours prior to each performance for walk up sales; seating begins approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the performance. Late seating is at the discretion of the House Manager, and patrons may have to wait several minutes before being admitted for an appropriate break in the production. Patrons who arrive late may be seated in different locations from their original seats and may return to original seats after intermission.  Late seating is not guaranteed.

What do I do if I can’t find my ticket confirmation?

Just come to the Box Office, give us your name and let us know you lost your confirmation. We will be happy to assist you.

Where do I pick up my tickets? Do I need to show an ID or credit card?

There is no need to print your tickets at The Encore!  As long as you arrive at the theatre on the correct date as time that you purchased tickets for, your name will be on our Will Call list.  You will check in with our House Manager upon arrival and our ushers will show you to your seats.

Does Encore charge ticketing fees?

Please see our Ticketing & Late Seating Policies for more information on ticketing fees.

Can I return/exchange my ticket?

All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. However, Encore does have a flexible exchange policy for both single ticket holders and subscribers, which allows for tickets purchased for a production to be exchanged for another day/time of the same show. Please visit our ticketing policies page for complete details.

Where can I eat before the show?

The City of Dexter offers a host of lunch and dinner options. Please visit our Dexter Restaurants page for more information.

What happens when we have inclement weather?

The Encore rarely cancels performances due to inclement weather. Should a performance need to be cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, barring widespread power outages, a notice will be posted on the home page of our website and on the outgoing message of our Box Office at 734.268.6200. We will also attempt to contact ticket holders for that performance by phone or email to notify them of the cancelled and update our social media page.

Performance cancellations are rare and are usually decided late afternoon for an evening performance.

What should I wear to the theatre?

While we do not have an official dress code for The Encore, our patrons usually dress in business casual attire for a regular performance and formal business attire for an Opening Night performance. However, we would rather have our patrons arrive comfortably and not be concerned about how they are dressed.

Can I donate to the theatre?

Yes! The Encore is a non-profit 501C3. For more information on how to donate, please click here.

What accessibility services do you offer?

We are a handicap-accessible theatre, and hope to have auditory help services available to our patrons in the future. If you are in need of handicap-accessible seating, please contact our box office directly at 734.268.6200.

Can I bring children? Is there an age limit?

Parents can use their best judgment when deciding to bring teens or younger children, and we encourage you to read more about our performances here on the website or call our Box Office at 734.268.6200 to inquire if any performance has content that might be objectionable to those under 18. Unless the performance is specially for children, no one under 5 will be admitted.

Can I record the show or take pictures inside the theatre?

Our union agreements prohibit any still or video recording of any kind by patrons inside the theatre. House managers will require that any recordings taken inside the theatre be deleted.

Will there be haze, smoke, strobe lights, gun fire, nudity, etc?

Some of our shows may contain content that some patrons might not enjoy. Encore does our best to put this information on our website in advance so that patrons can have it while making purchase decisions. Occasionally, some of these features will be added while the show is in rehearsal, and we might not know until a few days before performances begin. In those cases, we will place notices of these items on our website and event pages online, in a pre-show announcement and email reminder to patrons, and on a house board just outside the theatre doors in our lobby.

Please call the Box Office at 734.268.6200 should you have any questions about the content of a particular performance.
